MALA COLLECTION

A Japa mala or mālā, means a garland. It’s a string of prayer beads commonly used by Hindus, Buddhists, Jains and some Sikhs for the spiritual practice known in Sanskrit as japa. It’s usually made from 108 beads, as reminder of the 108 ordeal Buddha suffered or the 108 names he uses . Malas are used for keeping count while reciting, chanting, or mentally repeating a mantra.
