Quartz is a mineral composed of silicon and oxygen atoms in a continuous framework. Quartz is the second most abundant mineral in Earth's continental crust, behind feldspar. The word "quartz" is derived from the German word "Quarz". It is by far the most versatile and multidimensional stone in the mineral realm. Three of its key properties are energy amplification, programmability and memory.
Amethyst is a violet variety of quartz. The name comes from the Koine Greek amethystos from ἀ- a-, "not" and methyo, "intoxicate", a reference to the belief that the stone protected its owner from drunkenness. The ancient Greeks wore amethyst and carved drinking vessels from it in the belief that it would prevent intoxication.
